The weather sensors send wireless at 433MHz to the inside console. That console then sends data over Wifi to an access point. The internet port (WAN) of the access point is connected to a USB ethernet adapter into the server. Then using iptables I redirect all traffic to a series of custom interceptors that then feed the data into WeeWx. It does not require external internet access to run or log data. It is only needed for others to view it remotely. 😜
The station is mounted on a leveled pole about 3.5 meters (11.4 ft) off the ground and 20m from other structures.
Sensors are updated every few seconds and averages taken. However, the website graphs, charts and reports are only updated every five minutes to reduce server load.
